City Police Patrolman Suspended Indefinitely
Baytown Police Patrolman Harold E. Pylate has been suspended indefinitely for actions prejudicial to good order. Police Chief Blair Maman noted uncertainty about appealing to the Civil Service Commission. Pylate is the second officer to leave the force recently, following Patrolman Noel Roach who resigned. Highlands urged to seek Harris County deputy for patrol
A Tuesday meeting organized by Highlands business and civic leaders formed a committee to press the Harris County Sheriff's Department for a resident deputy patrolman for Highlands. Since Sept 1, no local deputy has served the area after Charlie Fisk’s promotion. The group, led by John Heger, aims to request a replacement for former deputy John Heger as chairman, with Judge M M Brown participating. Sheriff’s Captain Nichols stated the department will not appoint a resident deputy and will instead deploy deputy patrolmen from the Houston office to improve coverage.
