C W Williams, 38, was injured when his loaded tank truck jackknifed and crashed into a highline pole at Wooster. The pole snapped, two high voltage lines burned, and power was out for hours in Market Street and surrounding areas. Williams remained in serious condition, while emergency crews rerouted power and station KREL briefly went off air. He came to Highlands in 1929 to work for Tyrrell and Garth, later ran a grocery and feed store with his son Ray and daughter Mrs. Cullison until retirement. A stroke on July 11 during preparations for his golden wedding anniversary led to complications and death after a seizure Sunday night. Funeral 5 30 am Tuesday at Earthman chapel with Rev. Paul Brown and Rev. James Brown officiating. Burial in San Jacinto Park cemetery under Earthman’s direction. Survived by wife Lynn, son Ray, daughters Mrs. Cullison and Mrs. James Tager of Houston, sister Mrs. Peart Smith of Corpus Christi, and six grandchildren. Active pallbearers named. honorary pallbearers include Highlands Rotary Club members and others.

Dickinson, Sept 15 A 24 year old Dickinson machinist Raymond Fogle raced to the hospital to meet his expectant wife in labor. He claimed the baby arrived two minutes after they started, as the child cried en route. His wife and newborn son, eight pounds one and a half ounces, were reported in good condition at the new Galveston county hospital in La Marque with the mother’s mother Mrs Vern Stephenson present.
