Dayton School Bond Vote Planned for 8.8 Million

Dayton voters go to polls Saturday to decide an 8.8 million dollar bond issue for school improvements. The plan adds to Austin Elementary, converts Dayton High to a junior school, builds a new high school, and furnishes air conditioning. Despite a 59 percent tax rise, supporters including the school board and local business leaders say growth from 1,400 to about 2,000 students justifies the plan. Voting is 7 am to 7 pm at Woodrow Wilson Junior High auditorium.
