Foot saving bypass preserves patient from amputation at Baytown
70 year old Louisiana native and Dayton resident Herbert Lewis avoided amputation after a vascular bypass from the groin to the peroneal artery at Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital. Vascular surgeon Dr Sara Edeiken led the procedure, followed by plastic surgery from Bufford Moore and wound care in UHMS-accredited clinic with Integra grafts. Lewis explains safety measures during COVID-19 and credits a multidisciplinary team for his progress toward healing.
