Baytown Police Identify Next of Kin in Investigated Death
Baytown police identified the next of kin for a man found dead on Northwood Drive but have not released his name while awaiting autopsy results. Investigators considered the case a possible homicide as they pursue leads from the Monday discovery and follow-up details. Several thefts and arrests were reported midweek, including jewelry recovered from Morrell Avenue, firearm and electronics thefts on Sheridan and Pinewood Court, a Rollingbrook Drive vehicle theft, a North Alexander Drive bicycle theft, and an East Foyle Avenue theft arrest.

Mont Belvieu Plans Tax Increase After Hearings
Public hearings were held on September 8 and 11 on raising city tax revenue by 8.01 percent. Last year’s tax revenue at 0.43671 per $100 was 10,593,922. this year excluding new property is 11,939,174, and including all taxable value is 12,153,585. A council vote to set the rate to cause the increase is scheduled for September 22, 2014 at 11607 Eagle Drive in Council Chambers at 6:00 p.m.
