Alderman J F Steadham notes Reliant Energy franchise fees may reach 36,000 next year and calls the change a rearrangement of funds. The added expenses push the year’s total deficit to 20,372, including 30,000 in bank accounts.
Baytown police say the investigation into the August 15 Walmart robbery at Garth Road continues. Alfred Lamar Smith Jr and co defendant Jacobbe Barefield allegedly devised the plan and arranged a car for the heist with Barefield later admitting involvement. Barefield described a scheme to call 9 1 1 after the robbery to report a stolen car.
