Texas Supreme Court to rule on school funding case soon
Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice Wallace Jefferson expects a ruling within about two weeks on the school finance case. He noted the decision may not be definitive and that the Legislature will respond. The case centers on the constitutionality of the current funding method and a Dietz court deadline for overhaul. The Legislature has struggled for years to replace local property taxes with new revenue, with a special session previously failing. Governor Perry may call lawmakers back once the court provides guidance.
