Wound Proves Fatal For LP Woman 25
Mrs. Mary Ann Jaschke 25 of 2045 Seventh Street La Porte died Saturday morning likely from a gunshot to the chest. Officer Victor Urdiales said her mother called to report the incident around 6 16 am at the home. She was taken to Pasadena Bayshore Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival. The body was moved to Harris County morgue with a 38 caliber revolver found beside her. Jaschke worked at Bayshore National Bank. The death is under investigation.

Baytonian Recalls Narrow Brush With Death in Pipe
Rusty Craig and four friends watched storm waters drain into a Danubria Street culvert when his foot slipped and he was sucked into an 18 inch pipe. He rode a 120 foot underground surge, breathing through a seam and grabbing air in one inch gaps, then surfaced into a creek ten feet deep. Rescued by a friend's father, he suffered facial friction burns, a possible broken nose, a lost shoe, and a toe cut, glad to be alive.

Police Probe Two Baytown Burglaries
Baytown police investigated two burglaries reported Friday morning. At 1410 Louisiana Bay Shore Mental Health and Retardation Center, an undetermined amount of drugs was taken after a long thin instrument forced the front door and drug cabinet. At 416 Rollingwood, Fred P. Jones’s home, burglars pried the front door and stole a television set and a portable radio.
