Washington officials say Connie and Diane partly fouled up this year’s cloud seeding experiments aimed at rain enhancement. The U S Advisory Committee on Weather Control notes interest shifted from southern to western states and that heavy Texas rainfall followed Hurricane Gladys. Gardner says experts do not claim to make rain but to increase rainfall potential and assess whether cloud seeding with dry ice and silver iodide affects outcomes.
