District pushes energy conservation drive with multi project plan
Michael Rasmussen GCCISD energy environmental and emergency manager told trustees about a district wide effort to cut energy use. Since April the program aims to save over 31 million dollars in 15 years. Three projects finished include boiler controllers air conditioning coil coating and plug load controls for high use equipment. Sports lighting is 80 percent complete with football fields done. HVAC controls work is only 15 percent complete and will be last to finish due to extensive building by building planning. Estimated completion for the HVAC work is October 2020.
