She worked at Standard Oil in New York City where she met Sigurd Miles Osterhus they married in November 1948. An avid reader journalist and birding enthusiast she traveled from the Arctic to Africa and the Galapagos. She lived in Libya Colombia Venezuela Alaska and Texas and cherished summers at her Dexter Maine lakeside home. Survived by husband Sigurd her sister Shirley Ellms Hatch her sons Douglas Philip Monty Peter and Chris and grandchildren Dan Lauren Luke Rachel Erik Sarah Andrew Christine John Mark Katie Christopher and nieces Randy Sarah Susan Jeannie burial at Mount Pleasant Cemetery Dexter Maine donations to Maine Audubon Society.
