Chambers County officials seek raises as workload rises
Chambers County Sheriff Joe LaRive and two precinct constables won large raises after a grievance hearing citing increased workload and county growth. If the budget is approved on September 25, salaries rise to 62360 for LaRive 48000 for Langford and Barrow with added cell phone and longevity pay. The county plans a steady tax rate and a projected general fund of about 21.63 million with a 6 percent revenue increase year over year. The hearing Wednesday in Anahuac sets the stage for the budget vote and new sheriff deputies to support growth.

The City of Baytown reports building permit applications for Aug 31 to Sept 6 totaling 687539 with 499235 in new residential work. New residences include 10526 Lauren Creek Drive Brighton Homes 85415 and other units at 10531 10535 10534 and S Gulls Cut by Jay Garrett. Remodeling adds 49200 plus several smaller projects. Commercial adds pieces such as arches at 300 S Alexander, a church child care center, a Halloween store, restrooms for the city, interior remodels and antenna work for T Mobile and Lee College.
