Baytown Relay for Life Tops Texas and Region Again
Bay Area Relay for Life, in its April event, ranked No 1 in Texas for the 13th straight year and No 1 in the seven state High Plains Division. It raised $750,255.15 surpassing a $750,000 goal, with 381 survivors and 109 teams participating. Since 1998 the Baytown event has raised about $8.1 million, and organizers announce two fall events to continue the fight.

Crosby man charged in Sept. 1 homicide
Harris County Sheriff's Office filed charges against Charles Ray Carter of Crosby for the shooting death of Earl Green during an early Sept. 1 confrontation. Green, 47, and Freda Lewis Wilson had returned to her Barrett Station home after a day of fishing. Wilson said the men had argued previously over her 13 year relationship with Wilson. Baytown unveils gateway monument on I-10 near Spur 330
Baytown officials cut the ribbon for a new gateway monument at Interstate 10 and Spur 330. Mayor Stephen DonCarlos and council members led a ceremony acknowledging a $300,000 project built with the Economic Alliance Houston Port Region. The steel derrick topping the masonry base features a nine point San Jacinto star, reflecting Baytown and the district’s branding.
