Raytown Building Permits Reach 421 657 In August

August 1999 permits total 421 657, bringing year to 2298 424. Building and inspection issued 19 residential permits for pore units at 276 each and two commercial permits valued at 24830. Five permits for images valued at 498 and 18 additions and repairs including Raytown Post Office permit totaled 115 mi. August activity outpaced 1958 figures, with Raytown showing more building than last February.

Last Of Street Funds Designated In City Projects

The final of $1,696,000 street improvement funds was designated as Brown and Root began the last projects on Carnegie Street and Wright Boulevard. Base material, paving, and final asphalt work are underway with Carnegie work completed and other streets including Highway 146 and Main slated for paving as funds finish. Baytown council did not add a second street bond on the Sept 2 library vote. Raytown street work now limited by maintenance funding.

First Negro In Houston School Today

A 6 year old Negro boy joined Kashmere Gardens elementary school as the district begins integration. Tyronne Raymond Day, son of a bank custodian, entered the first grade classroom at 9:02 a.m. escorted by his father and the director of elementary education Dr. Charles Nelson. He is one of 22 Negro children enrolling in the first grade of Houston's 170,000 pupil district.

Kennedy invited to talk before Houston ministers group

Reverend Herbert Meza associate pastor of Bellaire Presbyterian Church and vice president of the Greater Houston Ministerial Alliance announced Thursday that Senator John F.
