President Ford visits high school game in Baytown
Baytown witnessed President Gerald Ford visiting a 1976 high school football game between Robert E. Lee and Aldine MacArthur at Stallworth Stadium. Security staff included 40 Baytown officers and Secret Service, with helicopters overhead. Ford interacted warmly with students and staff, staying past halftime to watch the bands, and praised a young fan before leaving. Wanda Orton, former Sun editor, notes the coverage.
