Baytown author Glenn Blake reads from new collection

Baytown native Glenn Blake, author of Drowned Moon, will read from his writings at 7 pm September 18 at Sterling Municipal Library. He teaches at Rice University and the University of Houston and is finishing How Far Are We From the Water, set in the Brownwood subdivision, to be published next fall.

National Public Lands Day volunteers sought Sept 20 at Wallisville Lake Project

Volunteers are invited to the Wallisville Lake Project for National Public Lands Day on September 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Activities include a canoe ride, a Trinity River cruise, and rookery visits as part of a nationwide and local effort now in its 10th year. Gatorfest ignites Anahuac with Texas Alligator Roundup

Giant gators outnumber residents three to one in Anahuac but next weekend the town aims to balance the odds with the three day Texas Gatorfest. Industrial review board OKs local tax appraisals

Baytowns Industrial District Review Board approved 4.54 billion dollars in appraisals of 27 properties across three industrial districts outside city limits this week. The figures will be used to determine 2003 tax bills for the properties and guide future assessments.
