Oklahoma, once impoverished during the Dust Bowl era, has expanded into a robust agricultural and industrial power, driven by diversified farming, manufacturing, and rural development initiatives.
The Baytown school district is one of 25 in Texas chosen for Plan A of the comprehensive special education program by the Texas Education Agency. By 1976 all districts will participate. Baytown also offers an extension course from Lamar State University with Region 4 to train special education personnel. The course focuses on learning processes and techniques for educating exceptional children, including those with learning disabilities and behavior related issues. Dr Velma Falck, a St Thomas University professor, serves as teacher trainer for the extension course.
The Baytown area notes multiple funeral services. Mrs. Katie Henson of Cedar Bayou will be laid to rest at Roberts Cemetery with Johnson and Frazier directing. Margaret Griffin of Midland Park New Jersey will be buried in Garden of Gethsemane Houston after services at Earthman Chapel and St. Joseph Church. Charlie Elbert Vick Jr. of Baytown, a former Humble Oil pipefitter, will be buried at Paul U. Lee Chapel. Freddie Eugene Morris of Tri City Beach Road dies, with services at Paul A. Lee Chapel. Burial plans and pallbearers details appear for each.
Lamkin, 30, of 119 Caldwell, Baytown resident nine years, works for Prudential Insurance. A Dallas native and Sunset High School alum, he earned a UHBA in 1963 and seeks Position 6 held by Glenn Lippman. Harman, 47, assistant comptroller for Proler Steel, lives at 9011 Thompson Road and seeks Position 17 long held by Philip Dignam, the first Highlands candidate since 1966.
Gregory L. McBride, son of Mr and Mrs Fred B McBride of 5506 John Martin Road Baytown, received the Driver's Badge while serving with Wand Heavy Equipment Maintenance Co in Germany.
Huffman School tax dispute over assessment values continues in Des District Court. U S Plywood Champion Papers Temple Industries challenge district values amid an evidentiary hearing set for Sept. 15. Plaintiffs say district used erroneous assessment methods and seek lower tax bills.
