Calm winds boost August fishing across bays and reefs
Anglers report hot fishing despite record heat with glassy water described as trout green and calm. Live shrimp and croakers boosted trout catches near Port O’Connor, Galveston Bay, and Sabine Calcasieu jetties while tarpon activity rose off Galveston. Guides Kirk Sanks and Mike Williams note strong bites at jetty and tarpon grounds as shrimp harvests rise ahead of autumn.
