Baytown enjoyed sun Thursday morning but forecasts called for more showers this afternoon and Friday. A second Baytown thunderstorm in a week drenched soil with rain from 4 30 p m to midnight Wednesday night. No widespread damage reported though La Porte suffered a transformer hit and power losses. A local resident logged 14 inches in a rain gauge at Brownwood, while totals around the region varied up to six inches earlier in the week. Houston recorded 1 72 inches in 24 hours ending 6 39 a m Beaumont 1 38 inches. Vic toria reported 82 inches and other cities saw lighter totals.

Bond Set On Driver In Murder By Auto Charge
B W Ross of Houston bound over to the grand jury under a 2500 bond after a preliminary hearing on murder by auto. His car struck motorcycle riders Carlton Evans 17 and Billy Glen Loving near Cloverleaf on State Highway 78. Evans died. Loving survived and said Evans had owned the motorcycle less than two hours. Authorities noted the impact left a 624 foot skid mark and a blood test indicated Ross was intoxicated.
