Undefeated Wooster House A Baytown Landmark
Baytown locals recall the 1840 Wooster house on Mapleton Bay facing Scott Bay as a lasting showplace. Surviving from Carla and earlier storms, it stood with eight porch pillars and a 26 foot log, built by Rundell with hand hewn timber. The 1961 hurricane left minor damage but the structure remained sound as floodwaters rose and residents sought shelter, later torn down in the mid 1960s after its storied history.
