Baytown Fire Station No 5 welcomed Baytown's Boys in Pink with an open house to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Firefighters in pink shirts showcased the new home while Honor Guard raised the first U S flag alongside Baytown Junior High School’s band and National Anthem. The event featured Mayor DonCarlos Fire Chief Blake City Manager Brumback and Councilman SEE STATION PAGE 3A.

Unified Land Development Task Force holds first town meeting
The Unified Land Development Task Force will host its first of four public meetings at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Baytown Community Center Meeting Room 2407 Market St. City staff will present recommendations on commercial industrial and land use categories design standards and definitions and then take questions from citizens. Other meetings are planned at Stephen F. Austin Elementary School Baytown Junior School library and Roseland Pavilion.

Goose Creek CISD renames facility after late educator Peter Hyland
At a Monday board meeting Goose Creek CISD renamed the Lee Annex home of the Alternative Learning Program the Peter E Hyland Program. Diane Hyland spoke emotionally in favor of the tribute noting her husband’s long dedication to education and the program that helps students earn high school diplomas on nontraditional terms. The board also held a public hearing on the 2007 2008 Schools FIRST report outlining the district governing financial resources under Texas law.
