In Anahuac the WEC canceled today’s Public Boat Day because river conditions are dangerous after heavy rains. The next events are set for Saturday November 11 and Saturday December 2, with the February field lab to fulfill the six trip EPA requirement of the Public Wetland Education Project.
The Roseland Spray Park at 100 Roseland Drive ends its fifth season at 8 p.m. Sunday. Open daily this season from April 1 to Nov 5 with no entry fee, the park operated 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays, and noon to 8 p.m. on Sundays. Replaced the 52-year-old Rose land Park pool as Baytown MD D project.
The Baytown Chamber of Commerce hosts the 14th annual Public Safety Recognition Dinner on Tuesday November 14 from 6 30 to 9 p m at the Baytown Community Center. Dinner begins 6 30 p m with the program at 7 30 p m. Individual tickets cost 10 each and are available at the Chamber Office or by calling 281 422 8359.
U.S. stocks declined after the Commerce Department reported the economy grew at its slowest pace in more than three years. The Dow fell about 0.6 percent to 12,090.26, the S&P 500 dropped 0.85 percent, and the Nasdaq slid 1.2 percent, despite weekly gains. Investors hoped for a soft landing but worried housing weakness could spill over.
