Special Olympics bowling event brings joy to participants
The 22nd annual Special Olympics bowling event at Max Bowl East on Ward Road drew over 150 participants from eight school districts. Organizer Hattie Brockelman with Yvonne Jason and the United States Bowling Congress led the celebration, which opened with an invocation by Mayor Stephen DonCarlos and the motto reading. Participants, including students from Goose Creek, New Caney, Humble, Sheldon, Huffman and Galena Park, bowl under regular rules with some ramps for assistance. Enthusiastic players and supporters filled the lanes with laughter as even a low score sparked cheers, highlighting the joyful, noncompetitive spirit.

Goose Creek CISD board approves class size waivers
The Goose Creek Independent School District won approval to seek a TEA class size waiver because 33 kindergarten through fourth grade classes exceed the 22 to 1 ratio. The district has 8,997 k-4 students in 450 sections, with 19 of the 33 overruns by only one student, and plans staffing adjustments based on campus enrollments to reach the target ratio.
