Baytown families span generations at Robert E. Lee High School during Homecoming. REL’s first students Andrew B. Garrison Luther LaBlanc Butaud Wesley Ratcliffe began a lineage that carried into the 1950s and 1960s and beyond. Kellie Skarda Class of 1984 recalls Gander pride and deep school loyalty as memories of the disco era and Reaganomics frame their shared story.

Baytown Chamber of Commerce will host its 21st annual Public Safety Recognition Luncheon at Goose Creek Country Club at 1 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5. Pink Heals Tour returns to Baytown in November
A mobile cancer awareness event arrives Saturday with pink fire trucks and a police car on display at San Jacinto Mall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cancer survivors may sign a truck, and booths raffles and education are offered by Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital with Baytown firefighters selling T-shirts to raise funds for local cancer support.

Highlands streetlights to brighten several Highlands corners
Harris County commissioners approved a project to install more than 40 new streetlights in Highlands. Howard Sampson said the Highlands Lynchburg Chamber of Commerce requested the upgrade and noted the lights will use existing utility poles to cut costs. CenterPoint will install and maintain the lights under a county contract, with a monthly fee.
