Habitat loses fight for home

In Houston area news, a Harris County judge ruled the land donated to Habitat for Humanity actually belongs to donor Jean Lammers daughter Carol Young. Young must pay Habitat $85,000 for the value of the home built for Edna Salinas and her children on Ontario Street in Baytown. Judge Jennifer Walker Elrod found Young the legal owner of the land but Habitats efforts were in good faith. Habitat says the outcome could allow a return of property or funds to buy another home, with appeals possible.
