Baytonians may register and vote early starting 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today October 24, then 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. October 25, 6 p.m. October 26, and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. October 27-31. Voting site is Mockingbird Room at the Community Center, 2407 Market Street. Voters guides from LWV Houston Area available at Sterling Municipal Library, GCCISD high schools, and Lee College Library. Baytown City Council unanimously approved pursuing an energy savings performance deal with Johnson Controls to upgrade city facilities and traffic signals. Storm shelter story at Eagle Heights Fellowship church
After Hurricane Ike, Eagle Heights Fellowship in Mont Belvieu housed about 90 evacuees in a 35,000 square foot PVC walls tent-like sanctuary. Members Nanell and Scott Neal led aid as the church provided shelter, meals, and support while the community recovers.
