Proposed Baytown Library Might Add Art Wing
Baytown’s newly organized Art League discusses adding an art wing to the proposed city library at West Texas Avenue and Jones. Plans include an art room and auditorium but funds are lacking. sale of the current building, deeded by Gov. Ross Sterling, would finance any new structure. The plan faces bond-issue hesitancy from the council, with talks paused as 800 Civic Music members consider involvement, and arrangements for the Houston Art League Shamrock Show advance.
