Auto Crash Fatal To City Youth Ricky Dale Upchurch
Ricky Dale Upchurch 17 of 425 Bayshore died at 11:40 p.m. Friday after a Ward Gillette traffic crash. He had worked at Mangone shipbuilding in Houston and was a former Robert E. Lee student married about a year. The car, driven by 19-year-old Tuiph Van Morn, rolled after veering off Ward Road, stopping upside down in a yard. Upchurch, treated initially by Baytown EMS, later at Den Taub Hospital, Gulf Coast Hospital, had internal injuries. He is survived by wife Barbara, parents T. J. Upchurch III and Mrs. Mueller of Waco, two brothers Very Lyan and Andy Neal Upchurch, his sister Pennie Lee Upchurch, and grandparents. Burial plans are McGregor under Auster Funeral Home.
