Central Heights Park unveils a splash pad at 503 Atlantic St after a September build. City officials and residents attended a grand opening as the nearly 150000 project, aided by 148239 in Community Development Block Grant funding and 1470 from aquatic bond funds, officially turned on.
The Baytown Historical Preservation Association will host the eighth annual Heritage Scaritage Festival Saturday Oct 26 at Republic of Texas Park 5117 N Main St next to Wayne Gray Sports Complex. Admission and parking are free from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event features 1890s era reenactments including Wooster Common School No. 38 and Brown-McKay Farmhouse with docents in period dress, live Appalachian music by Chuck Chandler and Friends, palm reading by Gypsy Rose at the 1898 Bert Brown House, vendors, crafts and activities for children showcasing local history and culture.
Volunteers and agencies join to clear 16 abandoned boats along Cedar Bayou. Gerald Hayes coordinates with Cedar Bayou Navigation District and partners including Chambers County, Baytown, Chambers Recovery Team, Texas General Land Office and Galveston Bay Foundation. GLO oversees abandonment ruling, while GBF uses a federal coastal impact grant to fund the effort. Philip Smith of Crawley’s Shoreline Construction assists in removal.
