Mrs. H. Buckels explains tatting, a lace making craft she practices daily, using two to three designs and variegated thread to create edgings for mats and garments. The revival of tatting and other hand crafts will be featured at a bazaar October 27 at St Pauls Lutheran Church with crafts, foods, and recipe books.

The Baytown Music Study Club and the Bass and Treble Junior Club host the Federated Music Clubs eighth district convention on October 2 and 23 at Ramada Inn with co hosts Pasadena Music Club. Ten clubs from Beaumont to Baytown participate along with Lamar Tech Dickinson and University of Houston affiliates. Mrs. Erle Y. Quinn of Navarro leads the district and about 100 attendees are expected. banquet speaker is Mrs. Carl Edward Bock of Austin, National Federation director, honoring past Baytown presidents. last meeting featured Carmen opera synopsis and selections.
Kathryn Ann Goeppinger and Paul Christopher Opryshek exchanged wedding vows at the home of Mr and Mrs Hillard Kozlowski on Mar 27 in Baytown. Bishop Ted Olsen officiated. The bride wore white magnolia crepe with Alencon lace. They will live in Baytown and attend area colleges.
Heirport Smith Spec. 5 and Mrs Gary Lester Smith of Colorado Springs announce the birth of a son Gary Lester II on October 13 in Colorado Springs. The baby weighed 9 pounds 4 ounces. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Henry D Smith and Mr and Mrs H Jerry Elrod, all of Highlands.

An all day Gulf Coast Genealogical Society meeting is planned for October 2 at the home of Mrs. Norris Rowland on Wallisville Road near Highway 10. The Baytown Society will meet at 9 30 a m in November at Sterling Municipal Library. Mrs. Jimmy Norton presided over the October session with reports from Mrs. E C Carlson and Mrs. J M Benson. Wilson Hunt chaired the book committee urging members to propose genealogical titles for 1971 72 purchases. New member Mrs. Garnett Cleveland joined and guest Mrs. Wesley Rabke Jr attended.
