BP Texas City refinery fire prompts safety failings probe
Federal investigators fault BP procedures at the Texas City plant for a 2005 fire in the Resid Hydrotreater Unit after workers installed a carbon steel pipe instead of an alloy segment. The blaze caused over 30 million dollars in damage and followed the March 2005 deadly explosion that killed 15 people. Seven of the March victims were from Baytown area communities.

Festival draws crowd despite rain at St. Joseph fundraiser
A Knights of Columbus charity festival at St. Joseph faced a damp turnout as weather kept some away. About 200 barbecue plates at eight dollars each were sold by mid afternoon, with 120 pre sold. Missy Riojas praised the event's meaning for her congregation, while Mason Riojas won a cake in a cakewalk. The festival marked seven years since a post hiatus return, tying its fundraiser to Columbus Day in honor of founder Rev. Michael J McGivney, a nod to the group’s long history since 1928.
