Minnesota Street Remembered in Old Baytown’s Busy Spine
Baytown’s Minnesota Street thrived with stores and services from Weingarten’s to Brunson Market and the Pennywise Wainscott’s. The triangle block housed dual storefronts on Minnesota and Market, a Tyree Hotel restaurant, Navy Mothers Club meetings, and Baytown’s diverse trades from barber to cleaners. The area hosted the Bayshore Rod Reel and Gun Club, Jimmy’s Drug Store milk shakes, the Lone Star Café, and Carter Electric, reflecting a lively postwar community scene.
