Homecoming visit recalls a family legacy and changed town
A writer returns to a 50 year old family house at 305 East Ashley-Wilson Road, now owned by Marvin and Arline Lesher. The visit, arranged by city councilman Dan Ellis, blends memory with change as the homestead and town have transformed from ranch life to a modern high school and stadium. The piece recalls J.P. and Papa Finley, past work at Phillips 66, and the lingering presence of the writer’s mother in a familiar living room setting, ending with a note to see more on page 5.
