School marks 96th birthday of longtime Baytown supporter
Baytown’s St. Joseph Catholic School honored Bessie Northey with a lunch hour celebration for her 96th birthday. Students from all grades sang and presented cards as Northey, in a wheelchair, enjoyed three Astros themed cakes and hugs from about 160 children. Northey moved to Baytown in 1947 with her husband and remains devoted to the church and school. Her relatives attended, and the event led to Northey’s continued ties with the parish and school she loves.
