The Texas Highway Department plans to upgrade Interstate 10 from 1H 610 to Hollywood Street and from Dell Dale Street to the San Jacinto River. A public hearing was held January 12, 1972 at Nort Shore Senior High to discuss recommended improvements. The project will be funded with 11 percent state and 89 percent federal funds pending Federal Highway Administration approval. Four freeway lanes per direction will be added from JR 10 to Hollywood Street and additional lanes from Dell Dale Street to the San Jacinto River.
