UF Drive Leader Defends 63 Budget Soundness
Baytown's United Fund drive trails by 77 908 to reach the 315 000 total with a 292 508 goal set by the budget committee. Charles Tillery announced the drive total Thursday, noting the budget is supported by a cross section of local business, professional and labor leaders. Tom Farmer, budget committee head, said the Community Chest budget reflects community opinion and that agencies were reviewed for duplication and need. Jim Sheffield led the Houston and national committee with L J Marsh in charge of local agencies. Increases were questioned and some were cut from 200 99 requested to fit the drive total of 192 993, based on realistic local needs and projected future funding approved by the board.
