The Baytown Robert E. Lee class of 1971 will host its 45th reunion on October 15 from 7 p.m. to midnight at Especial Events on 2232 N. Alexander Drive. Calling all Goodfellows the annual Goodfellows Christmas Toy Program sponsored by Baytown Junior Forum and supported by hundreds of Baytown area residents is underway. Baytown Junior Forum collects money each year to purchase toys for area children 2 to 10 years of age. Each registered child will receive two age appropriate toys for Christmas. Gift selection is done based on age bracket, and each child in that bracket will receive the same two toys. Since the Goodfellows Christmas Toy program is need based, parents will need to sign up to accept toy donations. Donations can be brought to the Baytown Sun or mailed to Goodfellows C/O BJF, PO BOX 8116, Baytown, TX 77522.
The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center at 5010 Garth Road Suite 210 launches a three day community blood drive today through Wednesday. Donors who credit the Community Advocate group enter a daily raffle for a Commit for Life Attic Zone Ice Wall lunch cooler and earn 200 bonus points for successful donations. Robert E. Lee High School football player Daniel Sanchez and Ross S. Sterling High School volleyball player Casey Benskin are named Goose Creek CISD Scholar Athletes for September. Sanchez, in the top 15 percent of his class, participates in REL Band, Student Council Leadership Council and Interact Club, and volunteers for Star of Hope. Benskin, ranked sixth in a 553-student class, competes under coach Candace Southall and attends Missouri Street Church of Christ while active in Peer Assistance Leadership and Student Council.
