Family seeks shelter as hurricane debris swamps harbor property
Dobbs and kin labor daily on their eight year family plot, buried under debris from the storm surge. The mobile home’s roof and siding are damaged, mud-streaked interiors cling with flooded debris, and a 36 by 36 deck and yard have vanished. Cadaver dogs searched for bodies as odd items washed ashore from Galveston and beyond. Dobbs notes the land drops 15 to 20 feet near the back and recovery will be another long effort.
