Sky crane aids Ike cleanup in Baytown with giant helicopter
Evergreen Helicopters brought a massive sky crane to a rural Baytown site east of North Main Street to assist post Ike cleanup. The helicopter, weighing notes and capable of lifting 20 000 pounds, runs on two 4 500 horsepower engines, uses 550 gallons of fuel per hour, and is operated by pilot Francisco Orlavieta and co pilot Nils Bergan. The aircraft will move fuel tanks, carry water for fires, and lift cargo across the Gulf Coast and beyond.
