Federal case plans loom over Chambers County shooting

Budget passes in Mont Belvieu with tax rate steady

The council approved the budget on September 26 with none of the public speaking typical before votes. The tax rate stays at 43671 per 100 valuation. Officials plan one new full time EMS position and two upgraded admin slots, while O&M funds fall 5.5 percent and debt rise 28 percent to cover 11 million Eagle Drive debt. Planned items include a new fire truck, Cherry Point Park renovations costing 50 000, a new municipal website, an automated water meter system at 600 000, and Hill water tower design to replace the 80 year old existing tower.
