Market Road to memory lane in Baytown history
Wanda Orton reflects on Market Street in Baytown from West Baytown to Decker, once renamed Bayway Drive, a corridor linking old Baytown and Goose Creek. She recalls hitchhiking youths, Humble service stations, Rebel Inn, Bay Theater, wartime crowds, World War II soldiers, and the street’s evolution toward Bayway as Market met Minnesota and Old Main.
