Trinity River Bridge Replacement Plans Draw Scrutiny
The aging Trinity River Bridge built in 1955 will be replaced with a longer, less steep structure. It carries about 54 000 vehicles daily, including 40 percent 18 wheelers, with two lanes each way and no shoulders. The project, funded under the Wallisville Lake Project by the U S Army Corps of Engineers, will add three lanes each direction and raised safety features while restoring any damaged wetlands and forests.
