Harris County taxpayers face a combined 35 million increase for the Criminal Justice Center and a new jail after Tropical Storm Allison flooding and project revisions. The jail now targets an August 2002 opening at 85.7 million, while the center neared 95 million before the flood and will require 19 million more for repairs and upgrades when reopened.
Baytown issued building permits totaling 372630 for November 16 through 20 with new residential and commercial projects. New residential permits reached 225000 for Avalon Lane project while commercial work includes a car wash on North Alexander Drive 5606 and a sandwich shop on North Alexander Ste 200 75000. Remodeling for room addition at Courtyard Blvd 7000 and several storage buildings were approved including 314 Morrell St 3500 110 Timber Ln 2000 and 1805 Vermont St 130.
