EPA to Continue Sampling at San Jacinto Waste Pits
The EPA plans further sampling at the San Jacinto Waste Pits north of the I-10 bridge to verify past results and assess waste migration. Sampling will cover cap water, groundwater, surface water, and sediment with EPA dive team help. The Corps study on remedial options should wrap in March 2016, guiding the Feasibility Study Report ahead of a public comment plan. Final action is due spring 2017, per US EPA Region 6. Local resident Archie Bickley links delays to health concerns and river stewardship.
