Barage terminal eyed near Roseland Park spurs clash
Developer plans an 80 acre barge terminal opposite Roseland boat ramp, permitted by the Army Corps. Chambers County landowner Johnnie Jennings expanded his permit from a boat slip to terminal use. City officials consider challenging the core permit and mobilizing residents to oppose what District 6 Councilman Sammy Mahan calls greed and a threat to Roseland Park’s waterfront and recreation. A park bulkhead sign warns visitors of the terminal and its impact on views and water use.
