UT Austin uses share-the-wealth tuition plan
UT Austin will raise tuition by 13.2 percent in spring and 29.3 percent in fall, with about 28 percent of the increases redirected to financial aid for students from low and middle income families under a state approved plan. The approach uses higher payments from affluent students to fund aid for those earning under 80 000 a year, as part of a broader system allowing campuses to set their own rates.
