Bayland Island building reborn as flexible events center
Less than a month after the Barracuda Beach Club closed on Oct 30 due to sagging profits and a smoking ban, the Bayland Island site is being repurposed into an 8000 square foot special events venue. Owner Jack Adcox says interior work is under way, with a new decor plan, ongoing renovations, and plans to host weddings, quincineras, meetings, parties, fundraisers, and civic events with catering options and a flexible pricing approach depending on event type and attendees. A name is not yet chosen, and booking inquiries can be directed to 281-837-6940.

Stocks fall on Goldman downgrade of banks and housing
Wall Street slid as Goldman Sachs cut big banks including Citigroup and housing worries deepened.
