Escontrias files first in local school board race
Manuel Escontrias 41 of 513 Pin Oak on Wednesday became the first candidate to file for the January 17 school board election. He will seek Position 7 currently held by Helen Barolak who may not seek re election. Escontrias plans to resign as president of the Robert E Lee High School Parents Association. Ballot also lists Positions 5 and 6 with David Smith and Wanda Ellis as incumbents. Absentee voting runs December 29 to January 13.
