Boy Injured by Locomotive At San Jacinto Hospital
Donald Raymond Van Peldt Jr., 13, was trying to hitch a ride on a moving locomotive on his way to school when his left foot was crushed beneath a railroad car at the James Street crossing in Baytown. He was treated at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital and not amputated. The James Street crossing lies between Commerce and North Main Streets. Police said the train crew did not know of the incident and were being questioned. The boy is a Horace Mann Junior School student, son of Mr. and Mrs. J Van Peldt of 1098 Hunnicutt.
