Hoax targets Victoria students over Oprah project
Victoria school officials and an ill student faced a six month wait for Oprah Winfrey show involvement only to learn the effort was a hoax tied to false Children’s Miracle Network connections. The misdirection emerged in April via a packet from the purported show. The episode exposed the misleading claims and prompted district spokeswoman Diane Boyett to comment on the matter.
